Off the beaten track, but quite accessible, this special world has space, spectacular mountain scenery and desert terrain with its own wildlife.

A safe bet is the bulb capital of the world at Nieuwoudtville, sitting at the top of the spectacular Bokveld Escarpment. The Quiver Tree forest brings the desert vegetation to contrast with the cultivated blooms.
Augrabies Falls sends a thundering pipe of water through a narrow canyon surrounded by arid desert with its weird and wonderful landscapes. The Richtersveld takes you up to the Namibian border while the Kalahari Gemsbok spreads into Botswana.
