Cape Town's popular attraction, working harbour, historic buildings, restaurants and shopping malls

Cape Town

V & A Waterfront

Link

Victoria & Alfred Waterfront remains hugely popular with both visitors and locals drawn to the cafe, restaurants, crafts and shopping malls set around the sights and sounds of the colourful working harbour.

The busy harbour makes an interesting area to stroll with boats of all sizes joined by the occasional Cape fur seal against a backdrop of original dockyard buildings and Table Mountain.

Clock Tower dates back to 1882 when it was used by the Port Captain to watch over the harbour. Next door is the rather more recent Nelson Mandela Gateway for departures to Robben Island.

Two Oceans Aquarium focusses on South Africa's often colourful marine life. Nautical enthusiasts will enjoy the large collection of model ships at the Maritime Musuem and the floating exhibit SAS Somerset, a World War II defence ship.
