Top wine labels, fine scenery, green valleys, craggy mountains, excellent golf

Cape Town

Cape Winelands

Cape Winelands spread across the plains of Cape Town into the mountains to the north and east. Easily reached from the city, refreshing green scenery boasts backdrops of craggy peaks and fine Cape Dutch architecture.

Rich soils and perfect climate have combined with vineyard expertise brought by European settlers to create an array of flourishing labels producing excellent wines. Wineries are now numbered in hundreds.

Escorted tasting tours are provide a popular way to explore the scenery while learning a little viticulture and enjoying some of the produce.

A range of wine routes stretch from well-known wineries around Stellenbosch to the mountains of Breede Valley and more arid lands to the north around Tulbagh. Wine production reaches Orange River to the north and Little Karoo.
