Fashionable resort town, wide sandy beach, holiday villas, restaurants and bars
Camps Bay is a fashionable resort satellite of Cape Town lying south along the Cape Peninsular. Holiday homes and villas climb the hill behind the town as it blends into the scenic mountain backdrop next to the Twelve Apostles.
Popular cafes, trendy bars and a number of excellent restaurants line the main road facing palm trees that line the long, wide sandy beach.
Camps Bay makes a good family base and good seaside location within easy range of Cape Town, although waters can be chilly. Local visitors increase numbers over weekends and holiday periods.
Nearby Bakoven provides a more secluded alternative in a similar location but without the frequent bustle that Camps Bay attracts from its Cape Town neighbour.
