Unspoilt wilderness, large herds of buffalo, elephants and plentiful lion, walking safaris and mobile camping
Wild and unspoilt, Mana Pools national park is named for the large pools of water that attract large number of animals during dry season from June to October. It is located on the Zambesi River as its flows through channels, sandbanks, islands and rich wildlife rich of the broad flood plains.
Thick patches of mahogany, ebony, rain trees and many more species break up grassy plains that are perfectly suited to walking safaris and mobile camping. Long Pool and Chine Pool are good spots to observe large numbers of hippo and crocodile while watching game as it drops in to drink.
Great herds of buffalo can be numbered in thousands, elephant is common, along with very good sightings of lion and occasional wild dog, cheetah and leopard. Antelope species include eland, sable and nyala. Hornbill, kingfisher and carmine bee-eaters are found among 350 species of birds.
