Burkina Faso Guide

West Africa

Burkina Faso

Culture, arts, crafts and a relaxed welcome are the dominant attractions for visitors to a land with few striking geographical features and as few natural resources.

Ouagadougou hosts a major biennial film festival to add to the music, theatre and dance that beat through the capital city. Otherwise, there is little of great note.

The most interesting scenery is found around Banfora with its lake and waterfalls - best seen by moped with a guide. Nearby Sindou boasts dramatic sandstone craggy peaks and domes.

Visitors to northern Ghana might venture across the border into the Gourounsi region where elphants can be found roaming the Po area. The Chief's mud hut compound is a particular point of interest in the architecturally interesting Tiebele.
