Scenic mountain range, dramatic coast road, fishing villages, Cape Point
The Cape Peninsula follows the mountainous ridge from Table Mountain past Twelve Apostles on its way to the rocky headland at Cape Point with fine views and fearsome waters below the lighthouse lookout point.
Steeply rising cliffs, sheltered coves and sandy inlets mark the scenic Atlantic route. Most dramatically, Chapman's Peak sits over the awesome winding pass high along the rockface between Hout Bay and Noordhoek Valley.
Kommetjie is a small village popular with surfers and fishermen, while Oudekraal offers diving opportunities around its rich sea life.
Fishing villages and seasonal whale sightings are found to the east on the shore of False Bay along with a longstanding naval base at historical and attractive Simons Town.
