The small port of Shimoni offers dhow excursions for snorkelling and diving in the Kisite Mpunguti marine national park. Boats also take visitors across to Wasimi Island.

Shimoni Caves were once a place of refuge and later used to hold slaves to be shipped off to the markets of Zanzibar. Restraining rings still remain in the caves, along with stalamites and stalagtites.
