Relaxed private gameviewing, Big Five, community conservation initiatives, birds of prey, angling and rock art
Malilangwe is a highly successful private wildlife reserve set in lowveld scenery alongside Gonarezhou national park. Involvement of local communities is crucial as material benefits of conservation outweigh the temptation of poaching.
The tone of the reserve is relaxed game viewing to allow an appreciation of the ecosystem and the successful programmes to safeguard endangered species such as the black rhino. Rock art sites date back thousands of years.
The Big Five are all present but equally valued is the presence of six small antelope species which include the rare Livingstone's suni. Wild dog and caracal are among the less known predators.
Abundant birdlife boasts over 500 species, with 14 species of eagle and huge flocks of visiting quelia. Anglers are offered good size bass, catfish and tigerfish which share the lakes with hippo, crocodile and visiting elephant.
