An exclusive designer getaway in the wild arid lands of Samburu country, breathtaking views from aloft

Samburu lodge with 95000 hectare

Saruni Samburu

Link

The designer lodge has exclusive use of Kalama Wildlife Conservancy in which it is located, just 7km north of Samburu Reserve. The cliffside location gives fines view across the plains to distant mountains, from lounge areas, swimming pool and guest rooms. Closer to hand the view brings in a number of waterholes where Samburu elephant, leopard, reticulated giraffe, Oryx and Grevy’s zebra come to drink.

Just two cottages, a double and a twin, and two family houses provide an intimate experience for guets looking for an exclusive getaway. Each room can add an extra bed for a child. The dining experience is designed to match its exclusive surroundings.

Game drives include Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and West Gate Conservancy. Traditions and semi-nomadic heritage of the local Samburu people make up an important part of the experience, led by Samburu guides. The Warrior for a Week optional programme allows guest to be taught as a junior warrior learning to track animals and make nomadic home on the plains of Samburu.

Specialist activities include drawing safaris for artists, visits to rock art cave sites and fly camping for the overnight wilderness experience.
