Graaff-Reinet is the fourth oldest town in South Africa. It dates back to 1786 and is home to a number of revered Boer leaders. The town sits 750m above sea level on the banks of the Sunday's River in the midst of the plains of the Great Karoo.The town makes a great stopover for travellers venturing into the lesser visited, but fascinating Karoo lands of South Africa. Points of interest include the Karoo architecture, striking geology. The Dutch Reform Church is a copy of Salisbury Cathedral.
