The Karen Blixen Museum was the home of once the centre piece of the farm Danish author Karen Blixen - nom de plume Isak Dinesen - and her philandering Swedish husband, Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke.
The house gained worldwide fame with the huge success of Oscar-winning Out of Africa, based on the autobiography of the same name. The guided tour takes the visitor through the various remaining possessions, paintings and Karen Blixen's life.
Built in 1912 in typical colonial style, the house was bought by the Blixens in 1917, remaining Karen's home after the divorce. Much of the surrounding farm was used in a failed attempt at coffee farming.
