The elephant herd is now thriving in its mountain and bush habitat having been hunted almost to extinction because of its farm-raiding activities. Reddish in colour, the 200 Addo elephants are smaller than equitorial with shorter tusks.Lion, buffalo, rare black rhino and bushpig share the park along with various buck - eland, bushbuck, kudu, steenbok, duiker, oribi and more - and up to 170 species of bird. Tours may be guided or self-drive - ask at the gate where to find the elephants.
